Paint
Correction
Those fine spider-web scratches that show up under direct sunlight are swirl marks, and they're the single biggest reason a dark car stops looking new. Paint correction machine-polishes them out of the clear coat rather than filling them in. We do it fully mobile, across the Wirral, Chester and North Wales.
Removing Defects, Not Hiding Them
Almost every swirl mark on a car was put there by cleaning it. Automatic car washes are the worst offenders — spinning brushes dragging the last car's grit across your paint — but a sponge, a dirty wash mitt or a single-bucket wash will do it too. The damage is microscopic scratching in the clear coat, and it's what makes paint look dull and grey instead of deep and reflective.
There's a shortcut the trade uses: a glaze or filler-heavy polish that hides swirls under a layer of oils. It looks superb for about six weeks, then washes out and the swirls reappear. Correction is the other approach — levelling a fraction of the clear coat with machine polish and compound so the scratch is physically gone. It takes hours instead of minutes, and it doesn't come back when it rains.

What It Will Not Do
It can't fix every scratch
Run a fingernail across it: if it catches, the scratch is through the clear coat and polishing will not remove it. Those need paint. We check under LED lighting first and tell you which marks will go and which will not, before starting.
Your clear coat isn't infinite
Correction works by removing a few microns of clear coat, and a car only has so much. That's why we measure paint depth before touching it, and why a 2-step isn't automatically the right answer. Anyone polishing without measuring is guessing with your paint.
It undoes itself without protection
Corrected paint is bare and vulnerable. Go back to the same wash habits and the swirls return within months. That is why a sealant is included, and why most people put a ceramic coating on top to protect the work.
